If you know me, you know I love New York City. You also might know that I lived there for about 5 months after I graduated college, but that's a story for another day. While I was there I got to meet some of the best clients who I still get to see regularly when I make trips. Most of my clients in New York are families, but over the past year I've fallen in love with capturing couples as well.
When I made a trip to New York this past summer for some family sessions, I wanted to have a couple to photograph as well. Lucky, I found the sweetest couple who drove over from New Jersey to model for me! Hattie and Tyler were a blast to work with, and naturals in front of the camera. Hattie is also a photographer, so it really made my job easy. They talked and laughed throughout the whole shoot. It was so simple and sweet, and exactly what I was hoping for.
I've wanted to have a session on the Brooklyn Bridge for so long, especially because it's such an iconic New York City landmark. So being able to do this made my heart so happy! We spent some time walking along the Brooklyn Bridge. There was dancing, laughing, sweet looks, and stolen kisses, all with the Brooklyn Bridge as a backdrop.
After the Brooklyn Bridge, we walked over to Washington Street. If you don't know, Washington Street is a very "Instagramable" street. There are always people posing for the best shot because of the incredible view of not only the Manhattan Bridge, but the way the Empire State Building lines up perfectly between the legs of the bridge. We battled the rest of the people there for photos, and got a few photos before heading to the water.
We ended the shoot in Brooklyn Bridge Park by Jane Carousel. This is such a cool spot because of how the carousel looks over the water right at the Manhattan skyline.
We did the shoot mid-morning, which is something I hardly do. I generally do sessions in the evening because the lighting is so great, but I was glad to have different lighting to challenge me.
This was one of my favorite sessions to date. We just had fun hanging, laughing, and exploring a part of this pretty city. We were able to take our time and hop around instead of being on a schedule. It makes a session so much more enjoyable and authentic when you just focus on each other and not worry about anything else.
If you're planning a trip to New York City, whether it's with your family, friends, or your better half, I would love to document a part of your trip! Check my travel schedule to see when I'll be in New York again!
